About Me

My journey and the values that shape my approach to therapy.

My Story

I’m Didem Koc, a pre-licensed therapist at Fountaingate Wellness and the founder of the Mokita Project. Originally from Turkey, having experienced the challenges of starting over in a new country, I understand firsthand the barriers that many face in accessing support—whether due to financial hardship, language, or cultural stigmas.

My advanced training in Existential Counseling centers on exploring how you experience emotions and respond to life’s unique difficulties. Our focus in therapy will be on accepting and understanding your feelings, rather than trying to change or suppress them. As your therapist, I aim to help you find meaning in your current circumstances, exploring insights without judgment or labels.

A significant part of my clinical practice involves supporting individuals from marginalized communities, helping them explore and understand the complex interplay of emotions within their minds and bodies. As a trauma-focused clinician, I aim to help individuals activate their compassion and heal from wounds often buried beneath self-blame and shame.

As a bilingual counselor, I strive to offer an inclusive space that honors the intersectionality of your identity and experiences. With a Master’s degree in Existential Phenomenological Psychology from Seattle University, my approach is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to social justice, ensuring that all clients feel seen, heard, and respected in their therapeutic journey.

Additionally, I offer pro-bono therapy sessions for students and individuals experiencing financial hardship. If you’re interested in learning more about my availability or sliding-scale options, please reach out please reach out by scheduling a consultation session.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in Existential Phenomenology, which emphasizes the exploration of your unique experience of life and emotions. I believe that every individual has the ability to find meaning in their circumstances, even in the face of life’s most challenging moments. Rather than focusing on changing or suppressing emotions, I work with you to understand and accept them. This approach allows us to explore the insights your emotions offer, creating a space for growth without judgment or labels.

In therapy, I aim to honor the whole person—their past, present, and the complex ways their identity shapes how they experience the world. My work is particularly focused on supporting individuals from marginalized communities, those navigating trauma, self-blame, and societal challenges. I strive to create a compassionate, inclusive, and culturally sensitive space where we can explore the interplay of your emotions, experiences, and identity, fostering healing and self-compassion.

As a bilingual therapist, I am committed to understanding the nuances of your lived experience and integrating cultural sensitivity into our work. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, with you at the center, actively participating in your journey toward clarity, healing, and empowerment.

Ultimately, my role is to help you navigate the complexities of life with a greater sense of meaning, self-acceptance, and resilience, using the insights from Existential Phenomenology to guide the way.
